We planned an elaborate wedding for a year with a guest list of originally 150+ people.
We spent a lot of time, money and energy thinking about what our guests would want and appreciate; since they would be the ones traveling to Sedona.
Day of the wedding, all the drama that transpired were from our guests. It was only after the wedding, that we realized, our most sacred memories from our wedding were the intimate ones; the first look, vow exchanges, small welcome dinner the night before.
When couples started inquiring to rent our space for THEIR elopements; THAT was when we discovered that elopements was even a thing!
Prior to that, we had this limited belief that weddings were ONLY done one way: elaborate, big, with extended families and people we rarely spoke to.

For the sophisticated bohemian bride who appreciates natural, rustic, and vintage details.
You'll describe yourself as someone who can be free-spirited, loves to explore, and is open to different cultures, experiences and ways of thinking. You have an eclectic style with a touch of sophistication and elegance about you.
You appreciate organic elements and nature but that doesn't mean you haven't forgotten about your urban roots. You still appreciate structure and that means classic elements with boho pieces.
You'll describe yourself as someone who wants to do things differently on your wedding day.
When we think the term “modern bride” we see the modern bride stepping out of the norm and being true to themselves.
You are unconventional, out of the ordinary, and it probably explains why you're getting eloped in the first place!
You appreciate contrasting elements and not your typical "all white" bride. At the end of the day, you want functionality and elegance.
For the moody and romantic bride who appreciates the raw emotion of dark and light natural elements.
For the playful, whimsical bride who appreciates delicate touches and connects deeply to her inner child.
You'd describe yourself as quirky, playful, colorful and having a pretty wild imagination. You enjoy unconventional and unique styles all the while feeling deeply connected to nature. If you can imagine yourself getting eloped right by Oak Creek and even frolicking in the creek than our venue is perfect for you!
You can transport your guests into a different dimension and tap into your inner child on your most important day.
They are on top of their communication and transparent with expectations of their guests and the accommodations provided. My husband and I booked this location for us and a few of our guests during our elopement. They also work with some exceptional private chefs and will provide micro weddings if it's something you desire. The way the house is decorated pays homage to the surrounding beauty and tranquility of Sedona. A short hike on a private trail reveals a section of Oak Creek. Every amenity is thought of within the retreat. We are so grateful to have picked this location and for the amazing people that own it. We are excited at the idea of staying here again!
I really loved how they took the time to get to know us and our vision for our day. Prior to arriving at the retreat, our entire parties baggage was lost at the Phoenix airport, Roger and Kristen so graciously offered to lend us anything they could to make our day still happen, right down to lending dress shoes for my husband. Thankfully, our bags were located and we received them before the wedding, but this act of kindness and generosity just speaks toward their incredible character. The retreat itself was absolutely stunning! Set in the hills of Arizonas most infamous red rock, this home just oozed deserty vibes. Each room had its own element design and was decorated so beautifully. The main living space was open and cozy, perfect for small or large get togethers. Lastly and probably my most favorite part of the retreat was the views from their huge deck where we had our wedding reception, followed by another upper deck surrounded by gorgeous twinkle lights. I seriously felt like I was in a Disney movie. Kristen's table scape was an art piece on its own- my guests are still talking about it. From the warm earthy tones and dessert burnt orange colors, you really feel Arizonas magical charm all around you. Roger was so helpful with mc'ing our first dance and helping us with our pre selected Playlists- we really didn't have to worry about anything. I couldn't have imagined a better day and I'm so glad that we picked Kristen and Roger's Elysian Retreat for it.
My wife and I worked with Kristen and Roger for our micro wedding which came together perfectly. They have a keen eye for detail and took a lot of the stress away from planning by being proactive, communicative, and friendly. Kristen and Roger had great recommendations for vendors that specialize in small weddings and helped create a holistic timeline that ensured our wedding day ran smoothly from start to finish. Our families stayed at the Elysian Retreat Sedona and loved every aspect of the house: location, views, comfort, esthetic, cleanliness. We plan to have future family getaways at the Elysian Retreat Sedona to spend great time with one another, have access to the outdoors and expansive night skies, and forge new memories in one of our favorite places in the world! Thank you, Kristen and Roger, for opening your home to our families and helping make our wedding weekend so magical!
You're not the most extroverted person and you're not so into the idea of having 150+ guests stare at you while you walk down the aisle or do a first dance.
You're thinking; "I can't even think of what to eat for dinner next week, let alone pick 8 bridesmaids to stand next to me on my most important day ever! Yea, no thanks.
"Let's just keep it to the one's closest to us."
You're set on eloping, but also want something a little more fancy than just exchanging vows and taking photos.
You want a nice intimate reception dinner afterwards with your favorite crew so you can celebrate and share this happy moment with them.
You do enough planning at work. You appreciate the small details but don't want to do any of the work and just want to show up and have everything done for you.
We've thought of everything for you and meticulously crafted our experiences to give our couples ease of mind
for perfect micro weddings in Sedona.

Here's a general timeline of your day: (each couple is unique, during our design calls that's when we personalize things to you)
Getting ready (hair & make up)
First look photos
Ceremony, typically offsite in Sedona's majestic Red Rocks (ceremony can be done at property and can be discussed on our discovery call) during this time is also when we set up for your reception venue.
Cocktail Hour
Couple comes back from ceremony, dinner is served with music playlist in the background.
9:30pm is when our team arrives for tear down and clean up. Because Sedona is a dark sky community we ask guests to take their party inside or keep it at a low volume if outside.
Yes, it’s possible. From our experience couples have the best wedding experience offsite but we do we have a couple spots on our property we recommend.
We can talk more about this in length on a discovery call together.
Yes. Our property holds up to 12 vehicles.
DOES YOUR PACKAGE INCLUDE A DAY OF COORDINATOR?
Yes! Our package includes a day of coordinator as well as two planning calls prior to your big day.
We specialize in helping you craft your wedding day and we give you recommendations of our vendors during these planning calls as well as provide a final timeline.
If you are bringing in your own vendors we are open to it as long as we have a conversation with these vendors before signing a contract.
No
Our personal opinion is Fall and Spring. However we have done summer weddings as well! To compensate for the heat, we start ceremony and reception later and enjoy the warm summer night.
In order to lock in your special day, we collect half of your payment up front (non-refundable) and the other half of the payment is due one month before your event date.
We have an amazing list of vendors that you can choose from. However, If you choose to use your own vendors we are open to it as long as those vendors are willing to have a conversation with us beforehand.
We select our vendors with care and would like everyone that comes through our property be aware of certain property rules and boundaries we have.
Customizations to our current package will be an additional price that we will have to price out during our our initial discovery call.
Staying at The Elysian Retreat is not required. However, for the best experience, we do recommend staying here so you can wake up on your special day and start getting ready without having to travel that day.
But if you decide to book the venue only, we can accommodate that as well.
Music and dancing are allowed. Out of our respect for our neighbors and Sedona’s quiet hours, we ask all outdoor music to stop at 10:00 PM. You are more than welcome to continue the celebrations indoors.
At the moment, we are open to accommodating more than 16 guests. There is an additional charge of $100 per person above 16 (children under the age of 3 are not included in this count). We do have a hard cap at 30 guests at this time.
